This is the work to record this song.

Multi-tracked with the Motif XS using 13 tracks

The tracks (recorded one at a time) are as follows

1)Highland snare

2)Highland bass drum

6)GM pipes - drone

7)GM pipes - drone

8)Highland snare 2

10)Small cabinet bass

11)Highland snare for roll

12)Power Standard kit for cymbal

13)French horn

I make a 2 bar recording of the side drum which once I've quantized it is copied however many times I need it to the end of the song, same with the bass drum.

I now have something to help me with the timing.

I recorded one verse and chorus of a bagpipe and copied that twice to get to the end of the song. The second and third verses and chorus were copied to the next 2 tracks where one was detuned and one was advanced for timing . These were also panned either side to expand the sound.

For the drones I selected the GM bagpipe voice and just held a C and G note for the duration of the song, copied it to another track and detuned it slightly.

For the next track I copied the side drum track but changed the voice to another type of Highland Snare which gave it a wider sound, I erased the first two verses of this so it only comes in the last verse.

Next track to be recorded was the accordion to give some melodic backing then came the bass track.

The next track was back to the Highland snare to create a drum roll for the join of the verses and another track to contain just the 2 cymbal voices at the join.

Finally I added a French Horn for some twiddley bits.

The mixing was then done within the Motif and some effects and EQ setting done with the Behringer stuff I have. The whole lot was then transferred to Cubase to trim up.
