Default Technics KN6500 - 18-07-2010, 11:31 AM

Wotcha folks

I have just purchased a Technics KN6500 in super condition (apart from sticky labels on the keys which fortunately come off quite easily) for 310 quid .. that also included a stand

My first impression was one of complete dismay, however that soon passed and was replaced with an ear to ear grin as it started to fall into place on how to use the controls.

I did a factory reset and updated the OS from v1.1 to v1.3 and must say I'm beginning to find some features I have on my S900 that are actually better on the KN6500, the one noticeable difference is the ease in which you can make changes on the fly ..... all the buttons are grouped in the right places.

The adjustable tilting and wide screen display is also way better than my S900 .... mind you a casio calculator has a better display than the 900

All in all, for 310 quid I'm well chuffed ..... and I am looking forward to playing and recording some tunes to post here on the forum.

I spent an hour or so soldering leads this morning so that I could use Audacity on my PC to record and I'm pleased to say that I have sorted that side of it out too ... and just to prove it here is 9 minutes of the KN6500's self demo tracks showcasing some of great sounds that this almost 10 year old piece of kit can make

If anyone has any experience on the KN6500 or the like I would appreciate a few tips ... especially when it comes to using it together with my S900, I gather there is a fair bit of setting up to do to make these instruments work using the midi connections.

I'm off to play now

All the best,

Hi Mike
Congrats on the new keyboard, Technics is good stuff I used to have a U90 organ, pity they no longer exist.
Good demo but remember you'll never achieve anything like that because of the way demos are put together however it does show the rhythms and sound off.
Look forward to hearing some results when you get your head round it.
