Thanks for the welcome! My first name is Terry. You can hear a couple of tunes and bio at
myspace.com/soundtrackmedia . I will be glad to have my brain picked when it comes to recording. (slim pickin's, teehee) In my opinion, the only excuse for "bad" recordings is bad gear. (not necessarily cheap, just not quality). We are all emersed daily in "quality" audio whether it be "the nightly news", the radio or going to the movies. So, we are at least familar what "good quality" sounds like. And, that should be our goal. It doesn't matter how you get there. You just gotta know when you
are "there".
I used to think I would read online from some producer the "perfect" studio set-up and go from there. It never happened. I believe it's because there is no such thing. Tastes very from individual to individual. Also, I think most people are embarrased to admit how much money they've "thrown" at their studio, only to find out they've just
spent a lot of money.
I'm fortunate that I reverted back to "playing by ear". I can still read enough "score" to fix the mistakes but don't read music very well any more.
I guess I need to save some of this so I don't run out of things to say.
P.S. I found this site by researching Tyros. I noticed you have one. How do you like it? I've always been partial to Yamaha because I prefer sounds that closely resemble real instruments. I prefer full orchestra sounds but have to produce some tunes on the popular side to "keep people awake"!
Thanks again!
