Question Reading/Combining MFD Files - How? - 04-04-2011, 08:33 AM

Yeh, it's me again!

Another one of the zillion questions I got - sorry about that, guys.

Sometimes things are as easy as apple pie if they just get explained - I'm hoping (but no bets!) that this is the case, here

See, I grabbed a whole lotta .MFD files off the net, here and there - after I'd managed to access the .MFD S910 that goes on my keyboard. Man, there's a whole lotta songs, there - real dandy - and they sound good, too!

The .MFD files from other keyboards have different song titles than the .MFD for MY keyboard. So far, so good.

I also found a program called MusicFinderView, that can (I think) automatically convert MFDs from other keyboards, to my S910. Great stuff!

I got the Target Machine (now there's a fancy name!) in the program as S910, load each of the MFDs into the program and then "save" the MFDs with a new name. Some songs on the list were "red", which I understand means that they couldn't be converted - and no problem, there, if that's the case.

I then copied the new MFDs to my flashdrive and tried to read the MFDs on the keyboard. Shucks - ain't got any problem reading my own S910 MFD - but as soon as I try to read and APPEND a converted MFD from a different keyboard, I get the message "Data not loaded correctly".

Now, Ive looked at the Owner's Man & the Reference Man and can't find any useful info - though maybe it's hidden somewhere in the manuals. Maybe I'm doing something wrong along the way (most likely!) - or maybe I gotta look in some other Man.

My question is - how in hell do I read an MFD from another keyboard?

Here's another question - is it possible to combine MFDs from other keyboards with my S910 MFD, so that I just got ONE .MFD file? If so, how?

Thankee for any advice, guys.

Yay - now how about that! another s-e-r-i-o-u-s thingy, from

Thanks, too, for the link!
I've now downloaded the Manager thing and will install it soon - and give it a try. I see Jorgen's got a whole bunch of goodies on his site, so maybe I'll grab a coupla other things, as well.

Ya don't use the MFD? Man, that's like taking a hog out on the road and driving everywhere in first gear all the time!
Ya gotta try out the other goodies on yr keybd - if only ta see what yr maybe missing out on!

Anyways, maybe another member'll oblige with the answer to my question, eh.

Thanx again, Mr. Spike - greatly appreciated, yessiree!

Why don't I use MFD? the simple answer is I have my style files arranged differently on my hard drive in folders according to the type of venue I could play at, the name of the song and in the order I want to play them.
I can guess the next question - how about registrations? no I rarely use them except my 'start' registration which sets up some parameters like pedals for pitchbend and variations advance.
Cheers

Heh heh!

Yep, shootin' my mouth off again, maybe!
Ain't never seen nothin' like the Music Finder before - and I guess I'm mighty fascinated and very impressed by it!
Amazing piece of software!

Y're probably right about the styles and registrations - ain't got as far as "Registrations" - and what they are and how they work, yet.
Still getting through the Owner's Man - and it ain't exactly going quickly!

Maybe when I've read and tried out more, I'll agree with ya!

Thanks fr yr comments
