Default House of the Rising Sun - 07-02-2010, 10:10 PM

Hi Folks
There have been many uploads of this over the years so here's my version.
A quick record, no overdubbing or editing.....as is......hot off the T2.
The solo is a guitar rather than the original organ as there are organs and Leslies in the rest of it.
Comments welcome as always

Spike

Sweet. I like organs when they are used in the right place, this seems to fit very well.

How did you get the guitar arpegs in the back?

I like the solo

Johan

Hi Johan
Thanks for your kind remarks.
Guitar arps are part of the style
I normally leave organ voices alone as I'm not keen on them but this song just had to include them. Glad you liked it
Cheers
Spike

Hi Spike.

Thats one of the best styles out there , and some lesser mortals would have let it do all the work ,and just busked along to it .

No cop outs here.!!,.....the organ melody dominated the arrangement, and some great use of the Leslie speed variations created some very authentic 60's sounds .

Not sure at first,if I would have kept with the growl sax for the melody, and brought in the organ for the solo ( like the original version ) , but on a second listen, I really enjoyed your performance just as it is

Nice job My friend !!

Regards
Gordon

Really enjoyed this Spike. If only we all had a pound or a dollar for each time we'd played this classic.

Like you said, this has been done many times over the years, but you still managed to put the Spike treatment/sound on it. Nice bit of organ playing, especially after the jangly guitar bit in the middle. Nice ending to finish it all off with also.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Leo
Hope you can get your problem sorted.

Hi Gordon
Thanks for your great comments mate, I'm now trying to get fairly close to the originals but putting my own stamp on them - I know what you mean though as we are so used to hearing the organ that it's to be expected.

Hi Paul
Thanks for listening to this , I don't normally take to organs so it's nice to hear from someone that it works, thanks for your time mate
Cheers
Spike

Hi Leo,

It sounds as though you may have a broadband issue, as I think you said on an earlier thread that a song had kept stuttering when using the box net player.

You may be better off downloading songs to your hard disk and then playing back through your preferred media player until you can suss out out where the problem lies.

Good luck on getting to the bottom of it.

Paul

P.S. Apologies to Spike for me going off topic.
