Hi Antoine
The Shadows are my favourite group. Whilst it's nice to hear someone putting their own interpretation on a song you have to keep very close to the original in terms of chords and notes. This arrangement is fine but the chords are a little out at times and some of the notes are missing, any extra notes don't really enhance the song. Most of all however was the distinctive intro and ending were missing (well the drums were!). You got a nice guitar sound here but the mute guitar could have been louder.
If you'd like the correct style for this I can upload it for you.
Ah well - you did want some tips
Keep them coming
Cheers
Spike

Hi Antoine, Although not true to the original, This was your interpretation and it sounded pretty good to me, Spike is a Shadows afficionado and if you go into members and you can hear his version...Pam

Hi Spike

The Shadows are one of my favourite group to.
First of all many thanks for your tips. Well done
I never want to do exact the song like the original.
I always try to give it some of me in it.
So if some notes are missing sorry that's the way I play it because i don't have the right notes.

But I want to thank you for your tips.

They are very useful so many thanks you will give me those tips and offer your help.
They are very honest

I know about the muted guitar but I was to lazy to do the song again sorry.
I am not sure about chords but i will check it out for you and when you say it I believe it.
For begin and ending maybe a foot trapper guitar and some drums.
Please give me as much tips as you can Its great to become tips from a specialist of the shadows.
If I can find the styles and notes I will do more Shadows for this forum.

And yes I would appreciate it if you can give me this style. Thanks

So spike you are a nice man to give me your tips and your help.
That's what is so good on this forum the people give the right and honest judgement.
Give me more, give me more la la la li so i become a better player.
Thanks Spike a thousand time and more
I love this forum and his nice people.
Sorry if there are mistakes in my English.

Antoine

Hi Antoine.

Apart from missing the signature tom tom intro and the middle eight variation, that style was actually very good, and I thought you had a nice authentic sounding "Hanks guitar " .

Have to agree with Spike regarding the extra notes thrown in at the end of each line,...nothing wrong there, but us "Shadows fans" like to stick as close to the original as possible.

Good overall performance

Regards
Gordon

Hi Antoine
Here is the style for Apache - the intro is No.3 and the ending is No.3
Var A is for verse, Var B is for first Chorus Var C is not used and Var D is for 3rd Verse . You'll soon see which they are. This is a style I made myself and it's quite close to the original.
Cheers
Spike

Thumbs up Re: Apache - 15-01-2011, 11:42 PM

Hi Antoine

Good to see another Shadows fan joining the band over here.
Some of my earliest musical memories are of the old Shads tunes and many of those oldies have stood the test of time.
Nothing wrong with giving any song your own interpretation but Apache was always one tune that HAD to be played as close as possible to the original.
Every budding Hank Marvin had to learn the proper chords, notes, bends, etc.
They even had to learn those Shadows steps, remember those?

Anyway, lovely to hear this sixties classic again, my kinda music.

Regards

Will
