Default What A Wonderful World - 02-05-2012, 12:19 PM

Hi All
Here is an offering in the Old School mode again.
It was done by making a live recording in the Quick Record mode and then dubbing some more voices on top. If anyone is interested it was recorded via a Yamaha Audiogram 6 directly into a program Called Audacity that runs on Ubuntu Linux on a little Acer Netbook.
Anyhow, Hope it comes out OK.
Barry

Hi Barry
Very nicely played, timing and phrasing spot on.
Two suggestions - the sax was a bit dry - add some reverb to it to give it some presence and a change of voice would have been nice.
I'm interested in your reasons for recording by that route when you could do it on the Tyros direct.
It's no problem not having a midi file - that is there to ensure the song is listed on your profile, a blank midi does the same job.
Cheers
Spike

Watcha Spike
Many thanks for that and once again I am in complete agreement
I have possibly sent you in the wrong direction as to the recording as it is all done on the Tyros as follows. I start to just play something and if I like it i will hit the Record button and play it again. This is everything in one go backing melody line fills etc. I then further enhance if need by by adding a track to it on the tyros which I do by rewinding the track and pressing the record button again and select say channel 8 to "Right 1" voice etc.
When I have completed that I then just play it all back and capture on my PC. That is when the Audiogram and Audacity comes in.
I hope that I haven't confused things further
As far as the Sax and reverb goes I am in total agreement and one thing that I have noticed is that sometimes in the recording of a subsequent channel certain things can go walkies. i.e. reverb or DSP and variations. I don't always notice and the only way to get it back is to select another recorded song and then reselect the one that you are working on.
Thanks also for the heads up on the Floppy disc thing. I do have a hard drive installed so every now again I may remove it from the keyboard and try and connect it to my pc to back it up.
Sadly I have as much of a problem with the USB as i do not seem to be able to see any signal from the port.
Many thanks again Spike and have a great day.
Barry

Ok Barry understood.
Can I suggest, if you are losing effects during subsequent addition of tracks the do a final mix when all the recording is complete.
Repeatedly press [Mixing Console] until you reach [Song Channel 1-8]. On the [Vol/Voice] page you can adjust voices and the volume and panning of those voice. Tab to the [Effect] page and you can adjust Reverb, Chorus and DSP by selecting with buttons C,D & E and using the bottom buttons to adjust settings.
You can do the same with the style channels by pressing [Mixing Console] once more.
When you've got it sounding how you like it then without leaving the Mixing Console press Digital Recording/Song Creator, tab to [Channel], scroll down to [Set Up] ensure all the relevant boxes are ticked and press EXECUTE then press SAVE.
All those parameters of the song are now saved.
Note - you cannot save any alterations directly with the Mixing Console
Cheers
Spike
