Default California Girls - 07-07-2008, 07:05 PM

Hi Gang.

Hope no one minds Me having 2 songs on the front page

Been working on this one for a while, but couldn't quite get everything to gel.

My own style,..... originaly tried using Jorgens "midi2style", but ended up re- recording a lot of the parts and voices,as the loops didn't take, and became distorted with the chord changes for some reason ??. Oh well, some you win some you dont .

So,......I downloaded a midi of the song, and kept on playing it until I had picked out the bits I was trying to reproduce "By ear",.........hence the intro may be a little dodgy, but My ears aint what they used to be I guess .

Hope it turned out OK

Uh-oh! It looks like my man Gordon has got it going on again! Seems to me that there's not a thing wrong with your ears Gordon. Absolute pleasure to listen to. I grew up with this song and I know what I'm listening for, ... and all the essentials are there.

Great playing and arranging. It's understandable why it took you a while. Well worth the extra time. It paid off!

Super, super suuuuuuuper rendition Gordon.
Don't have to worry about to place two of your songs on the front page anywhere my friend. It is a much pleasure to have your music here and listen to another magnificent rendition by you.
The Beach Boys should download your version and give you a big applausse Gordon, this is a fantastic performance.
Thanks for your "Super Nice" music .

Regards.
Julio.-

Great Gordon - brought me back to the sixties (or was it the fifties?). And your playing was terrific too.

Is it possible to have a copy of your fabulous style?

Best regards

Torben

Hi Gordon
You get better and better - this ones as tight as you can get. The amount of work has paid divis - only one minor point, the choir voices could have been a tad louder. That's not to say it wasn't excellent as it is.
Cheers
Spike

Hello Gordon
They don't make tunes like they used to - this is great, as Spike says maybe a bit more volume on the choral bits. You must put a lot of work into your tunes behind the scenes so to speak
All the best
Ewan

Thumbs up Re: California Girls - 13-07-2008, 09:05 PM

Great stuff Gordon

Takes me right back to those long summers of the mid sixties when I was just a lad.

You've captured everything my friend, that tricky intro and the essential Beach Boys harmonies in another first class performance, arrangement and production.

Can appreciate the time and trouble taken to get this one just right.

You rarely come up with a song that isn't right up my street, you've done it once again.

Regards

Will
