Default The Wall - 12-08-2008, 03:36 PM

Hi Gang.

The lead in to this track on the Pink Floyd album was set in a school playground, and on My original recording, I improvised the kids screams with a sliding synth.

After hearing Pams "Scary" upload, I did some exploring and found the XG special effects page,.....and found the perfect scream !!.

So,...re-visited it, and tweaked it hear and there.

This was my first made from scratch style, and as its all from memory, the guitar solos kind of went off track in a couple of places, so hopefully, you guys will allow Me a bit of poetic licence !!

Played,multi-tracked,and edited solely on the old T1

Not for everyone I'm sure, but it was great fun to play

Kind Regards
Gordon

Gordon my friend!

Sounds really great from where I sit. I'm a big, big, fan of Pink Floyd. From scratch counts for a lot, but so does from memory. I do this song in my act, and to me the midi I use is as close as it comes to being spot on with the original. I didn't make this particular file, but someone spent a good deal of time creating it, and I spent a good deal of time, researching and tweaking it.

I've said all that simply to say, "what a great talent and memory you have!" It's almost next to impossible to do any Pink Floyd song and not leave 1 or 2 of the nuances out, even if you're using the original recording. For you to come as close as you have just by memory amazes me. I tip my hat to you sir and say thank you, "more of this'!!! Definitely top shelf stuff!!!

P.S.
You make me write comments that almost
convince myself that I know what I'm
talking about!!!!!!! Scary!!!!!

Hi Gordon, Sorry to be negative, but this didn't work for me, It was just a cacophony of noise, and was very repetitious, what happened at the end, it just stopped abruptly...Pam

Hi Pam.

Your not being negative, I knew this wouldn't be to everyones taste.

I thought I had fixed the "early cut off", I noticed it was chopping it about 10 seconds from the end, so I re-posted it to 4share ??,.............I will have to check it out.

Anyhow,....thanks for at least giving it a whirl.

Kind Regards
Gordon

Hi Gordon
I still have your original version of this but I've not listened to it to compare. The way you've captured the original arrangement and the guitar solo is super. The first scream really adds to it but the jury is still out on the ones at the end.
Pink Floyd was around during my hibernation period so wasn't really into them but I did like this one and you did it justice
Cheers
Spike

Thumbs Up from me Gordon.

Fantastic piece of work.
Once again you're playing my kinda music.
Like to see/hear someone trying something that little bit trickier rather than going down easy street.
Very impressed with the complete arrangement and production and was particularly blown away with the guitar solo.
Very difficult to recreate an authentic Pink Floyd sound on a keyboard but you've got pretty damn close my friend.

Another one for keeps.

Will

A song played with a lot of enthusiasm Gordon and power.
I must applaud your talent like always, but not the song because unfortunatelly it is not the kind of music I like.
You know, I like the good chord progressions my friend and can't find really a good one on this melody, but like tastes are tastes and I know you love this kind of music, I must respect your taste.
Not a nice song to me, but yes, . . . a good and excellent musician.
Julio.-
