Smile "Theme for an Imaginary Western" - 15-04-2015, 03:41 PM

Dear Jack Bruce, probably best remembered as Bassist/Vocalist of "Cream" sadly passed away in October last year . . . .

I always liked this song from his first solo album "Songs for a Taylor" released as "Cream" split in 1969 - so I offer it here as a tribute to Jack . .

All Sounds from the Alesis Fusion - except Drums - MT Power Drumkit2, (VTSi in Reaper)

Thank you BOTH . . . . .

Initial access problems seem to have gone away (thanks-Spike!) . . .

I was beginning to wonder if anyone would be able to listen

I thought I would add a little info on the "AutoTune" effect that you hear in the chorus sections.
Euphemistically called the "Cher" effect, due to her extensive use of it on one of her major hit records (title escapes me . . ).

It is in fact the misuse (IMO) of this effect (or rather the use of incorrect parameters . . .) That produce the "articulation" you hear during open vowel sounds.

Configuring the parameters "correctly", will in fact correct tuning errors in a surprisingly realistic way, and its a great tool, if some of those high notes are becoming a bit of a struggle to reach.

BTW - "AutoTune" is (arguably) the industy-standard Tool. I used the Reaper equivalent, unsurprisingly called ReaTune, which comes free with Reaper . . . .

It was the articulation during the open vowel sounds that I liked for this song, - it seemed to add some interest . . .

Sadly, like most of these things, it has been largely done-to-death recently and can be heard extensively in most "Supermarket-Muzak" situations - where it is applied wholesale to complete tracks.

Seems you can't have too much of a good thing
