Hi Folks
Here's my version of Cliff Richards 1958 hit. Made the style starting with a clean sheet, tried to emulate the tinny cymbal and naff guitarring of that era, quick record then added the guitar c/melody and choir. Cleaned up a bit with Cubase. Not quite the same as the record but if you want that you buy the record
Disappointed with the conversion to Mp3, it's lost a lot of the base, effects and panning, the midi will be fine played through a Tyros (not so good through the PC)
Comments (good or bad) welcome as always
Mp3 here 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download Move it.mp3

Cheers
Spike

If any of you guitarists out there want to take the midi, delete CH4 and put your own solo in feel free.

Thumbs up Re: Move it - 24-01-2010, 08:43 PM

Good One Spike.

The song that started British Rock 'n' Roll.
Immediately takes me back to the 'Oh Boy' days with Cliff in his deck chair shirt and quivering lip.

Always felt there was a bit of rawness about this number and think you've captured that with the sax lead. Perfect backing of bass line and drum breaks spot on with the vocal track adding some body.
Jammed along with your midi but don't think I can add too much to your own guitar track.
Great stuff Spike, you're in your element with this kinda music.

BTW. Have you heard the latest recording of 'Move It' on the 50th Anniversary Reunion Album, some of that original rawness has gone but quite a clean arrangement.

Regards

Will

Hi Will
My God you're invoking memories now - I remember the shirt, went out and bought one myself.
Thanks for your great comments on it you're right I was weaned on this sort of music. Yes I've heard the 50th anniversary disc it's pretty good , my neighbours went to see them in Manchester at the end of last year. There's a good version of this on Youtube , don't know when it was recorded but it's after the second verse was added and Cliff's recorded it with S Club 7 and it's 'meaty' in the modern parlance - very solid thudding arrangement.
Thanks again mate
Cheers the noo
Spike

Hi Spike.

Your dead right about the naff productions on some of these 60's hits,...I was checking on youtube for The Animals "Please dont let me be misunderstood " the other day and I couldnt believe how corny the guitars and drums were,...not at all like I remembered from my teens .

Anyhow,....what a great arrangement here, I have to congratulate you on the style composition,..breaks ,and variations, absolutely spot on.

Clever choice of growl sax to give it some guts, and all in all, a very impressive re-production of those great 60's sounds.

Time well spent on this one mate !!!

Regards
Gordon

Hi Gordon
Thanks for your great comments and for taking the time to listen.
I know what you mean about the corny stuff about then and worse still we replicated it when we played. It was still better than some of this modern stuff though eh?
Cheers
Spike
