Let's Make Love - Lets Make Love 59.mp3 - File Shared from Box.net - Free Online File Storage

NOTE - Thanx Spike, I remixed with sax melody louder, and I cleaned up two parts again, making it a bit sparser.

Here is a song I wrote this week. It's an instrumental, but eventually I will put vocals on it. I have written a melody and lyrics (sax part). I did this using T3 and Logic Pro. I recorded a T3 style performance into Logic. Then overdubbed new individual instrument parts using different styles. I used several of Eileen Lowry's styles. The string part was added at the end.

Hi Mark
Good composition but the mix made the melody virtually disappear at times - it wasn't prominent at all but I would expect lyrics to stand out more when you replace the sax with vocal - I look forward to hearing it.
Cheers
Spike

Excellent job Mark and fascinated by how you manage to merge styles in this way.

My only criticism of the piece is that I think the brass falls were overused. However, once you have a vocal on melody then I'm sure you'd be thinning parts out in places anyway. For now though I think they'd work better further back in the mix.

Loved the rhythm section and the cool strings over the top. Lots going on and interesting all the way through.

Look forward to hearing how your vocalist interprets the tune.

Cheers

Paul

Thanx guys Good observation - More is not better.

I often play to much in early drafts. I'm still in the search mode for good/interesting parts. After I've done that a bit, I step back and re evaluate The act of posting them, has been very helpful.. The feedback is appreciated..

When I have a singer come over, I will pull out a couple of tracks. Some times I mute quite a bit. This allows the singer more freedom.. I then might have to re adjust some parts to fit the singer.. Unless there is part I want him go embellish on.

If I could just get the parts right on the first time..
