Default Strumble - 23-07-2008, 11:54 AM

Hi Folks
This is a composition that just came into my head after hearing a Mark Knoppfler number and trying to emulate one of his guitar sounds. Not sure if it worked. Added a couple of extra tracks including a Limbo Dancer multipad
Comments good or bad welcome

Hi Spike,

I enjoyed this latest creation of yours, and I like the name too. You've captured some of that Mark Knopfler flare in there for sure, (who, by the way, is one of my most favourite guitarists, along with Jimi Hendrix, Robin Trower, and a few others).

I think maybe a well-placed break, or change-up lead instrument chorus, might break up repitition and keep it fresh as it goes along.

That would be the only "hiccup" I see. Otherwise, excellent job from a fine musician!

Hi Krazy
I know what you mean buddy, I recorded this on the psr2000 maybe a couple of years ago and boy have I learnt things since thanks to the advice of more experienced players like yourself. I'm grateful for your comments

Hello Spike
Nice composition with a slight country flavour, as Krazy says the only way to improve it would be a change of sound at some point, I enjoyed it all the same
All the best
Ewan

Hi Spike.

Well,...this sounded like "Sultans of swing" without sounding like "Sultans of swing " if you know what I mean , ....you captured the mood and style perfectly, but it was original enough to set it apart .

I would have left out that heavy intro, as it was kind of an anti-climax when those soft opening bars came in,.....it may have worked better ( in my opinion),..to have maybe faded in with the first part, and then kicked it up a notch with that great style change.

All the ingrediants were there, good full sounding style, nice lead guitar work, subtle counter harmonies, and some well thought out chord progressions.

I guessed you were using a lot of improv, as you didnt use the pitch bend wheel once ??...........but however you did it, you have produced a very good, and very well played composition.

Kind Regards
Gordon

Hi Spike

This is the business and no mistake!!! That is some guitar playing for sure. One of your best without doubt. Very very well performed. Take a bow.

Kind regards
Andy
