Default Insanity - 21-09-2008, 03:41 AM

This is a song I wrote for a full orchestra. It's a very suspenseful and creepy song. it's about 5:24 seconds long with 194 measures.
Tell me what you think

Here's the MP3

This is a difficult song to critique one way or the other Roller. I heard a lot of things I liked in it, but yet a few that I didn't.

I liked the way the suspense built up at the beginning, but then it seemed to repeat too much. The length was an issue with me too. I realize that you warned us and I went into it with my mind prepared, but I was expecting more change to happen in that much time.

I know it sounds like I'm nitpicking, but I'm just trying to be honest. There was some really good background going on but it was kind of blurred out behind the "creepy" sounds.

Overall, with a little polishing, I believe there's a strong talent behind this song, great for movie scores, and I guess we'd have to say Halloween also!
Nice first upload, and welcome to the club!

P.S.
You should upload the midi so it will show in your file.

Well thanks for the critcism. Right now I'm rewriting it for a Wind Ensemble so my highschool can play it. I'll put up the midi when I'm finished with the ensemble.

Hi Rollerfreak

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for uploading a very impressive piece of music.

I, and I'm sure others here, would like to know a bit of background, to how you put this together. Was it done on an arranger keyboard, or done using VST plug-ins on a PC? Either way, it's very professional, and even more impressive taking into account your age!

Don't take comments made here as criticism, as not everyone will have the same musical tastes as yourself. You'll find the members here make comments for all the right reasons, not to criticise anyone in any way.

The reason you were asked for a midi, is explained by the following:

Basically, we have 4 upload sections: Covers, Originals, Vocals & Styles. MP3's need to be linked to offsite, (as you've done), and if a midi is to be provided, then this should be uploaded to the site, for the following reason:

If you need the tune/composition to show up in your folder, in the 'user profile' area, (just click on any member's name to see their user profile/uploads etc.), then this can only be done if a midi is provided. For all uploads in the covers & originals, this is a forum requirement, i.e. a link to the mp3, and a midi uploaded here.

You'll find that other members will leave comments on your upload(s), so if you can return the favour, and listen to/comment on others' uploads, it would be most appreciated.

Hope this explains things, and thanks again for a great first upload.

Cheers

Paul

I enjoyed the music. The composition itself amazes me did you write the parts out or just play it off the cuff?

I wold have loved a better and wider mix.Lots of frequencies in the same areas, Perhaps some separation of parts would allow us to hear between the notes as well, Maybe the Phil Spector of orchestral work was intended with the "wall of sound". There were a ew dynamic areas where things settled down which was nice,

Hi Roller.

Well, first of all,....welcome to our forum

A very deep and imaginative piece, but I'm still a little confused as to how it was actually compiled ............" Garritan Instruments " ??, is that a computer programme, or an editing programme of some sort for music played originally on a keyboard ?

Fascinating stuff.

Kind Regards
Gordon
