Default Dreaming - 12-05-2009, 11:24 AM

Hi everyone
This song was recorded on the Motif XS6 just messing about and seeing what came out with Orchestral Section, French Horn,Harp and Flute Legato.
Critique would be welcome (good or bad).
There is a midi but no point in uploading it as the voices would not be recognised by any other keyboard
Mp3 here 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download #Dreaming.mp3
Hope you like it
Cheers
Spike

Thanks very much Pam - the Motif has some incredible voices some of them must be on the T3 , unfortunately I'm not sure if they can be transfered.
Cheers
Spike

Hi Spike,
Makes me think I shouldn't have sold my XS7 (couldn't afford to keep it and a new Tyros3). Nice voices.

Hi Ken
Thanks for taking the trouble to listen and comment - shame you got rid of your Motif, I think my T2 would go first as the Motif voices in my opinion are superior .
Cheers
Spike

I know what you mean, Spike. I agree that many of the Motif sounds are better but how I use the kb was the determining factor. The Tyros edged the motif out a bit. I think I might get back into one at a later date, though. The XS is awesome for group play. If I get into more group and less solo I will definately have a need for it!

Hi Ken
Yes the uses of the T2 and Motif are different. I use the Motif for multi-tracking songs by way of the internal sequencer and midi'd to the Tyros as an extra voice but played with the T2. I can set R1 to play the selected Motif voice. The Tyros with all the bells and whistles suits solo playing more than the Motif which is really designed for group work and recording studio. I wouldn't get rid of either of mine. I also have a Korg M3 which is the Korg equivalent of the Motif, the Korg voices are different to the Motif and give an extra dimension (they can be midi'd to the T2 as well). Interesting subject!
Cheers
Spike

Hi Spike,
I have been a Yamaha keyboard fan for years. I previously had a Korg M3 (I think that's it) and I spent so much time with the things learning curve I gave up. Started Yamaha with a psr3000 and progressed to the Tyros. I have always wanted to stay current and when the T3 came out I had to make a choice. In retrospect I should have kept my xs7 and Tyros 2. Although I have many years of computer savvy I am a dimwit when it comes to linking musical components together. I think that is why I gave up on the xs7. I was looking at a beautiful board with no one to really help me learn it.
Going on web sites, such as this, has helped me very much but when I got into the XS7 too many folks (on motifator etc) were way over my head and I couldn't get the drift of many things. Found out I would rather play, create and write music than to spend hours tweaking. So that's my story and I'm stickin to it. Maybe I'll win an XS some day but being a General Motors retiree money is getting tiiiiight.
Ken

Pity you got rid Ken , we could have learned together. Believe me the Motif is easier to learn than the M3!
Cheers
Spike
