Default The Rubicon - 28-06-2009, 06:17 PM

Hi people.

New boy here. I thought I would take the liberty of posting a link to a song of mine that you might be interested in having a listen to. Its called "The Rubicon" and you can hear it by clicking the following link.

Paul Chapman på MySpace Music ? Gratis streaming af musik, billeder & musikvideoer

An apology first: It has some guitar on it. I actually consider myself to be a guitarist who plays keyboards rather than the other way round. I put the main backing tracks together on my Motif XS7 first in pattern mode then converted to song mode and changed it around a bit. Well - quite a lot actually! I then recorded drums, bass and other parts as audio data as stereo pairs of tracks onto a Boss BR1600 recorder so I could add lead parts and guitar parts. Lead synth sounds were a mix of XS7 and Roland Fantom patches recorded as audio on the BR. Guitar was a Fender Strat HSS through a Vox tonelabs. Mixed and mastered on the BR. I'm a one man band so I have only myself to blame!

Feel free to criticise or berate me as you wish. All the best.

Hi Paul
As I have an XS6 I understand how you put the song together and very impressive it is too,I can hear some of the 'influences' you list in your profile but it comes through as mainly you. It's well arranged and the voices , although plenty of them, don't cloud each other proving it is mixed well. I hope your technical expertise in audio recording is available for the rest of us to tap into.
All in all a very enjoyable song and a creditable composition. Well done
Cheers
Spike

Thanks for your kind words Spike. I'll be happy to help where I can with audio recording issues although I must admit that I do most of it by trial and error! Likewise I look forward to picking up tips on all of this new-fangled midi stuff! I'm beginning to get the hang of it but I reckon I have a lot to learn still.

Hi Paul, Sorry I missed this one, and as soon as I heard it I thought War of the Worlds, It would have been perfect for that,my goodness you certainly did some work putting that together, I do all my recording using the mixer on the Tyros3, dont think I'll progress beyond that now...Pam

Thumbs up Re: The Rubicon - 27-08-2009, 09:27 PM

Really enjoyed that one Paul.

Great arrangement and keyboard performance, but being another old guitar player who has moved over to the keyboard can really appreciate the artistry on that Strat.

Great stuff.

Will look forward to having a listen to some of your other tracks shortly.

Regards

Will

Thanks for the comments Will - and sorry for the delay in acknowledgment. I've been offline for a few days. Having said that, I've got a few new tunes on the way. I'll inflict a selection on you soon. Not quite happy with mixes yet so I'll carry on twiddling for a while.

All the best

Paul
