Default Film backing - 06-01-2010, 12:52 PM

Hi Everyone
I'm hoping to put together a slide show of pictures of my area of the Highlands of Scotland, the pictures will mainly be mountains, some covered in mist, mountain streams, waterfalls, windswept landscapes.
I have recorded this music with the Motif for the backing which consists of 9 tracks of between 1 and 13 patterns chained together, on the Motif they can be selected as required by the scene but they are all slightly different and are a combination of any number of the patterns (hope that's not confusing)
The bottom line is I'd like opinions as to the suitability of the composition for a backing track and any suggestions for improvement.
Finally does anyone know of a decent free software which will combine photos and music?
Here's the Mp3 4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download #NewFilm2.mp3
Cheers
Spike

I think this music would fit perfectly with your photos Spike.
Can even picture the slide show in my mind as I listen.
Can hear all the different patterns and like how they come and go.
Possible a little bit of playing around on the mixer fading in and out the different instruments as your picture sequence changes.

Have fun.
Look forward to seeing the final show

Regards

Will

Hi Will
Glad you can see what I'm trying to do and thanks for your suggestions, each of the phrases is only 8 measures and they are being re-arranged every eight measures. Any fading in and out would probably be easier post recording before conversion to .wav because doing it for each phrase might not be appropriate for all the combinations but it's something I will bear in mind for the final backing - I ken what you mean though.
Hope you're not snowed in.
Cheers
Spike

Hi Pam
Thanks very much, I will send you a copy. I haven't got any software to match the two yet but I hope it'll come together soon.
Cheers

Hi Spike,

Not had a chance as yet to listen to the music, (however I think I listened to something a while back and you mentioned a film, so may be the same tunes).

Don't know if you're aware of Google's Picasa, but it's an excellent piece of photo software that will also allow you to add music to slideshows etc.

It really is worthwhile getting to grips with Picasa as some of the features are great, with many special photographic effects you can employ. You can also do blends/wipes etc. between each picture and also add text over the photo if required.

I'm a regular Photoshop user however when dealing with my own photos I prefer Picasa as it's so quick to make edits.

As you know, some photographs, especially landscapes, benefit from being shown in greyscale or sepia, and these effects, plus others are available with a single mouse click.

You'll need a Google account (free & easy to set up) if you want to have some free space online for uploading the photos. You can create an 'album' and then use a single URL to direct people to it. It's worth doing, as you can then edit a picture offline, click a button and it will replace the one online.

You can add music to a slideshow, and then save the whole lot as a single file. I haven't explored the music side, so can't give you any further info on that.

Anything you upload can be kept private or made public and you can sync. the pics on your computer to the pics online.

Here's the link to download the latest Picasa version (3.6): Picasa 3: Free download from Google

Look forward to seeing/hearing the finished article.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Paul
No it's not the same tune. I'd be interested in your comments on this one when you get a chance. In fact I've got some slides and some video that I want to do - I've been doing the video for 15 years and never got round to assembling it.
I've downloaded the software so thanks very much for the link - I'll give it a try. I didn't realise I had Windows Movie maker already but I expect it's very basic.
Cheers
Spike

Hi Spike....Nice piece of music. Sounds like a fun project. I just put together a slide show for a wedding which was shown on a theatre sized screen in Toronto at the Sheriton Hotel. Turned out beautiful. The program I used is called "Memories on TV4" it allows for a lot of flexibility with full music background capabilities. I picked it up on 4shared. When you finish editing the slide show you burn to DVD...it's a great program. Hope this helps.
