Hi Romeo,

The reasons for doing this can be mostly explained here in this thread:

http://www.thelonearrangers.com/foru...ease-read.html

Up to now, the main site emphasis has been on song uploads. In a nutshell, this isn't really working, for a number of reasons:-

We just have the same members posting tunes and leaving comments.

Very few new members take part in this.

There are other sites, with much bigger membership levels, that cater for song uploads, so there's no point in trying to compete with anyone else, (which was never my intention).

I've contacted many of the non-posting members here, asking if they'd like to see the site focus more on help & advice. The feedback has been very positive. Just as you have members over on the other sites, who never post a tune for whatever reason, we have the same here and I want to do something positive about it.

We have to remember we're an arranger keyboard 'forum', not just a song uploading site, and we have to constantly find ways of making the whole site interesting for the majority, not just for those who like to pop in once a week to see what comments have been left on their latest upload.

There's a couple of us working very hard in the background, trying to make things happen but as usual, everyone seems to be sitting on their hands, and not getting involved.

The site will only survive if the members take an active part, and don't just wait for things to happen.

None of the above is aimed at you Romeo, but as you asked the question, I just wanted to put down the reasoning behind the recent site changes.

Cheers

Paul

Hi Romeo,

Forgot to mention - the song upload forums will always be available for those who want to use them. Even though I've moved things around a bit, you'll still be able to post songs in the normal way, and they will still show in your 'user profile' area, providing a midi has been uploaded.

Paul
