Thanks for the answer. Yes, I loaded the Expansion Pack into my S950

I'm not allowed to extract these styles and give them other users am I?

Extracting the styles makes them available to users of other keyboards, although the new voices in the pack can't be accessed, so anywhere one of these is used by a style, either for one of the style parts, or in OTS as a main voice, the user will need to select a different voice.

This would be a bit like buying a CD and copying a track to give to a friend, and I'm sure that you will find that the styles in a pack are covered by Yamaha's copyrights and terms & conditions, which you are deemed to have accepted when you downloaded the pack.

However Yamaha are still offering several free packs on their 'Voice & Style Expansion - Special Site' which can be downloaded by anyone without any kind of registration required, and these are what most people would be likely to extract the styles from, rather than spend a considerable amount of money for one of the packs that are not free just to get the styles!

Whatever the situation with these free packs, I can't see Yamaha bothering with them, and I don't think that Jørgen has been hounded by them for (kindly) making the 'Style in YEP files' program available.

Ian

That's what I thought. I'm not even considering copying them for someone else due to copyright laws.

I guess another reason to extract them might be to just load the styles that you like and it will then also enable you to load another Expansion Pack without overwriting the styles.

Yes, but of course any voices from the pack used by the styles wouldn't be available if the pack wasn't loaded, so you would have to change them. At least you would be able to see and hear the voices used from the pack which would help you when choosing replacements.

I don't have a 950 so I don't know if you can do this, but when the pack is loaded, is it possible to copy the styles and paste them to USER or USB? This would be easier than using a computer to extract the files although the program is very easy to use.

Nope, it doesn't give me the option to save the styles from the expansion pack.

Ian

Right.

The software programs I mentioned is only neccessary if you want to extract the styles for use in keyboard which do NOT load Expansion Packs.

Sorry for any confusion...

HI,I recently purchased a PSR S770 and the code for the free pack was on the outside of the box itself. Then I went to YAMAHA site, picked the one I wanted
(Christmas) purchased it and give them my code and they deducted the price off at the end of the purchase. HOPE THIS HELPS. MIKE.
