Trouble saving midi revoiced files -
02-02-2010, 07:33 PM
Hi
I asked here before how to Save Midi Files after I revoice them, and got a reply what to do.. however tonight I tried the way mentioned here ..after spending 30 mins revoicing a file I tried to SAVE but it wont work.
1. I revoice the Midi Song
2. Go into SONG CREATOR
3. Press Excecute & Save or SAVE & Execute both dont work...
It was mentioned go to ASSEMBLY page ...where is this page.
Could someone Please give me a Simple Guide how to SAVE my Revoiced SONGS..
Thank You
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie,
I don't have the T2 out at the moment so can't give you the correct info however, I'm sure Spike will be along to give you the proper explanation.
All I can remember is you go into Song Creator and navigate to the 2nd tab, (the 1st tab is the recording set up).
You'll see 'Quantise' is selected by default, so you need to scroll down to the bottom option, (i've forgotton the name of the function, but it's def. the last option).
The 'Execute' button, further down on the left should now be highlighted. Click on this, and when it's completed hit Save.
Tip: I've noticed that if the song you're trying to save is paused, the 'Execute' button in Song Creator stays greyed out, so make sure the stop button has been used to stop the song.
I'm sure this won't have been much help but don't worry, we'll get you sorted somehow.
Cheers
Paul

Hi Paul
Thank you for your reply, some of it I understand but still need that extra explanation of How To......
Perhaps someone could detail in each move so I can print it out.
I had this problem a year ago when trying to change the voices for Styles.. but detailed info got me able to use it.
Please help if you can with more detail.
Regards
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
Firstly there are two ways you can revoice a midi, firstly by changing the MSB/LSB and prog numbers in the event list of Song Creator. Secondly, within the Mixing Console.
I'll presume you are doing it with Mixing Console.
Load the midi and press Mixing Console button 3 times to take you to Song parts 1-8 (to change page to channels 9-16 press one more time).
At the top of each channel there is the voice icon, second one down is the pan control and the bottom one is volume.
Press button C to highlight the row of voice icons and press the appropriate channel button at the bottom for the one you wish to change. You can now select the voice you want to change it to. Do not exit MC but press Digital Recording/Song Creator tab to the 2nd page , scroll down to No 5 SET UP, ensure all appropriate boxes are ticked and press EXECUTE then SAVE
I find it safer to do one voice at a time and save each time.
Hope this helps, if it's the other way you are doing it then come back and I'll do a lesson on that
Cheers
Spike

Hi Spike
Again Thanks for your input in Helping me, As I notice you use a Tyros 2 as I do, it should work for me.
When You save revoiced Midi Files to external drive or USB Stick, when you reload the Midi " Saved " is it with the New Voices and Eq & Reverbs.
You say .....
press Digital Recording/Song Creator tab to the 2nd page , scroll down to No 5 SET UP, ensure all appropriate boxes are ticked and press EXECUTE then SAVE................when you say No 5 is that I press SET UP when you say Execute first then SAVE, can I send file to External USB Stick.
I am trying to get Midi Files revoiced to favourite 60`s tunes as an old friend " Guitarist " of many years ago in my " Group " Days is interested in playing a " Functions " older Generation 55 plus who like this type of music so I need these Midi Tracks for Backing Tracks, as I played Lead Guitar and He Rhythm...
hopefully I get this Midi Revoicing sorted out.
Thanks
Ronnie

Hi Ronnie
Whenever you save a revoiced midi file in the way I have described ALL the parameters that are ticked on the SET UP page are saved .
The second part of your question - there is no SET UP to press. You scroll down using Button B to No 5 which is the SET UP page (it will be there automatically) , the boxes should then be ticked, then EXECUTE then SAVE. At this point you can save it where you like (USER/HDD/USB1/USB2) just tab across to whichever device you want to save it to. I suggest if you are doing many alterations to the same midi file that you save to the USER first, when your alterations are complete then save it to an external device.
A further point - once you have the appropriate boxes ticked you will not need to tick them again when you do another midi - that setting is saved. You will still have to go to the SET UP page though to press EXECUTE and SAVE.
Cheers
Spike

Let me know how you get on.
There is another way to do it besides that already mentioned and that's with a software program but I think it would be better at this time to use the Mixing Console method above so you learn more about the keyboard.

Hi Spike
Just to let you know I got some Midi Song Files Revoiced the way you mentioned , I got 14 done tonight Sounding Fantastic.
However towards the last midi file I had that problem where the right channel sound faded, but on touching a cable on back of PSR 9000 which I use for Sound it came back on for a few minutes then went again.
I hope I dont have a problem with my Tyros 2... as Nobody in Dublin knows anyone who service the Yamaha, as they pulled out of Dublin 2 yrs ago.
Regards
Ronnir.. Thanks again Spike
