XGworks tutorials 3 and 4. -
07-04-2013, 10:52 AM
Hi All,
Some while back I posted XGworks tutorial 3.
More recently I've posted part 1 of tutorial 4 and made a beginning at part 2.
Tut.4 is designed to help people who are endeavouring to learn to sequence but who don't have much in the way of keyboard skills.
Any feedback from those interested would be most welcome.
There's also a section called "virtual instrument tutorials" where I endeavour to explain some of the jargon.
These areas do require membership though, sorry!
Kind regards,
John.

Hi John
For those with XGworks this is a really good tutorial and I urge members to join your site. Thanks for writing it. It's also good info for anyone into sequencing as the instructions can be adapted to most sequencing programs.
Cheers
Spike

I second Spike's comments!
I particularly enjoyed John's articles on virtual synths (VSTs) and for anyone looking to expand the voices available to them, then this is a great introduction to the technology and is also written in layman's terms, so even I can understand it!
Cheers
Paul

Hey Spike and Paul,
Thanks very much for those ringing endorsements.
So pleased you've found the site of some use.
I'll keep up the work on Tut4 part 2b then!
To all, as always, if you need any clarification please do ask.
Oh! And if you'd like some more stuff on playing Virtual Instruments with XGworks you'll find a tutorial on site showing how to link XGworks to VST Host via Maple MIDI in the XGworks section.
Kind regards,
John.

XGworks tutorial 4 part 2 is now nearing completion with all the notes entered, using the Staff View, and the bass guitar gliss up 7 semitones added.
I suspect, by now, those interested will know where to find it.
Feedback, comments and questions are always welcome.
Regards,
John.

Thanks John - it's developing into a really useful article.
Cheers

PS I received my SH01 Gaia yesterday - great synth!
The SH201 is lost in the post and I've put a claim in.

Thanks Spike,
It's designed for those new to sequencing and probably to music notation too. I've tried to explain as much as I can without getting to bogged down in technicalities. Not sure whether I achieved the last objective though.
Glad the synth arrived, pity about the other one.
I wonder who has the original, it can't just disappear can it?
Hope you get your money back.
All the best,
John.
